LIFE IN HALI

With a population of 500,000, Halifax is a medium-sized coastal city that offers all the comfort and convenience of city-life while still maintaining a fishing village-level of Maritime charm and friendliness.

Our training sites are centrally located, meaning you can trade your 45 minute commute for a short walk from the condos downtown, a leisurely bike ride from the trendy north end, or a quick 15 minute drive from the surrounding suburbs. Halifax is family and pet friendly, with impressive parks and green spaces and affordable homes on a resident-salary (did you know half of our residents are home owners?!).

Affectionately known as Canada’s Ocean Playground, you’ll never be more than 45 minutes from the water if you decide to call Nova Scotia your new home. Take the ferry across the Halifax Harbour, surf year-round in Lawrencetown, or ride the highest tides in the world in the Bay of Fundy. If you’d prefer to stay on land, you can explore the coast along awe-inspiring hiking trails, or simply relax with a glass of Tidal Bay from the incredible vineyards in the Annapolis Valley. However you choose to spend your time outside of work, know that passers-by will always give a friendly nod, strike up a conversation, and go out of their way to let you merge onto the highway.

Halifax is a city so welcoming, it’s hard to be a stranger for long. We love it here, and we know you will too.

Dalhousie Emergency Medicine offers RCPS, PEM, ESEM and IFEM programs.
